Sorry for this random question Robert, I do listen to BTB & if I missed it, I apologize, but what seemingly enabled the Germans to be like “holy shit we fucked up” after WW2 yet a decent portion of Americans are still not convinced that losing the Civil War was a good thing?

  1. Germany had a period of de-nazification. War crimes tribunals, forcing Germans to confront the camps, etc.

    In the USA, the insurrectionists were mostly let back in charge within a few decades, especially after Reconstruction was abandoned.
