The only good news is that we narrowly avoided Kroger and Albertsons (incl Safeway) merging.

  1. A few I have noticed recently include:

    1. Widespread use of "digital coupons" that require shoppers to scan a UPC code to digitally "clip" the coupon. The sale tag notes this, but it often isn't prominent.

    But they don't always work, it's a hassle, and people that don't have a smartphone are SOL.
