Someone could have murdered him. It wasn't them. There's a strong chance the guy was drinking, took a piss and fell off the back his boat too. That happens quite a bit in the world.

No doubt the most likely explanation is a drunken falling overboard accident. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I found the speculation he was murdered by the Mossad plausible. And this was before the Superspy book which I haven't read.
