Abbott has responded with threats to either remove them from office or deploy law enforcement to bring them back. A total of 57 out of 62 Democratic representatives have left, effectively stalling the GOP’s plan by staying out of state.

  1. They can only “bring them back” if they are still in Texas. Outside of the state, the state troopers have no jurisdiction or authority.

  2. Republicans obviously have not been at a town hall meeting recently. Assuming that Reupublican voters will vote for Republican candidates will make an Ass out of someone...

  3. Tell us how it's "legal" for you, Gov. Abbott, to threaten lawmakers with a conjured felony for exercising their duty to the Constitution and their constituents to preserve elected representation while you take Dear Glorious Leader's orders to preserve minority rule.

  4. Maybe screeching "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!" while waving a bloody axe wasn't the best opening move. Kind of shot his wad right out the gate. How does Abbott plan to follow that up after they pretty much flipped him the bird in response?

  5. No quorum, no meeting, no business. In Texas the"...presiding officer of that house and the secretary of the senate or chief clerk, as appropriate, shall attend each day until a quorum appears and is qualified."

  6. But it’s okay for the republicans to ditch out of DC early so they don’t have to vote on the Epstein Files? Got it #HesOnTheList

  7. 1st: Make him do it.

2nd: Why is it only 57 out of 62? It should be 100% and anyone who wouldn’t or couldn’t leave the state for whatever reason does should lose their position. This is an all-hands moment and if you don’t rise to the moment, bye.

  8. They could always do what Republicans did during Obama's term: Leave the state and let locals threaten violence on anybody who trespasses on their land with intent to bring them back. That was totally legal then.

Bravo Dems!!!! About time they start fighting back. Other Dem states need to start redrawing their maps to get lots more seats!!! No more taking the high road. Do whatever’s necessary to stop these cheating evil losers.

  10. Well, most are out of the state... just how does he plan to use law enforcement to bring them back across state lines exactly?

  12. So he's threatening to send his goons (because who else would do it) to other states to kidnap people, and he thinks those goons will make it back??

  13. This Brit wonders whether Texas law officers have authority in other states? Perhaps what might apply in cross-border pursuits and such would not be relevant in a distant state?

Would they answer 'No Can Do'?

  14. They are elected officials he can’t just remove them If that’s the case then we can remove abbot and the republicans by the same means

  15. One way or another the fascist dictatorship will arise, and it will rise out of Texas and spread to the rest of the nation.

But it hardly matters: no meaningful voting will exist by 2028, whatever the case.

This evil republican regime must be overthrown by any means possible.

  16. Texas Law enforcement has no jurisdiction out of state lol. In other words. Abbot has no power to do nothing and he is throwing a hissy fit.
