There is a gap in the market for a low end sandwich shop that does fillings like peanut butter, sandwich spread, hot dog sausage or cheese spread and crisps. The bread should be folded rather than cut for authenticity.

  1. We practically lived off a sandwich stall near our tent at my first Glastonbury. 50p a sandwich, absolutely nothing fancy about any of it. Delicious. Woke up on the last morning to the noises of him being escorted off the premises for illegal trading! 🤣

  2. Yes. All the yes.

Open late at night and do a "Ah, just chuck in some of whatever is left" sandwich for all the drunk people stumbling out the clubs.

The Everything Sandwich would be a hit.

  3. You would need a high turnover to stay in business if you were renting a shop. Seen a few sandwich shops go under round my way.

  4. Best I ever saw was a caravan at Latitude offering buttered toast at £1 a slice. They sold out completely on the first morning and drove off. Proper Gonch and Hollo enterprise.

  5. There used to be a chain in Birmingham that knocked out baguettes for £1-2 but I fear the overheads are prohibitive nowadays. And people possibly fear the stigma of perfectly reasonable food at an affordable price.

  6. I’ve gone back to simpler meals. Egg and chips, with ham if I want to spoil myself. Banana sandwiches. Cheese spread (Primula for me) and salt and vinegar crisps on a sandwich. 😋 Cheese and salad cream sarnies. I think it’s because I am getting old, but reverting to childhood. 😀
