Y’all this week my Agent told me that each tv Directing job is getting about 500 submissions
I understand it’s the same for Writers

Do directors and writers still collaborate to make a project happen, or is that no longer really possible in this environment?

not really in the US unless you’re talking name people
here in tv Writers (Showrunners) take the lead and then bring us Directors on later
in film Directors lead projects more
but I think the collaboration you’re asking about it more common at name levels and in the UK
