President Trump frequently demonstrates his disdain for journalists. He expresses his admiration for authoritarians almost as often. Tuesday showed how intertwined those two instincts really are.
That Trump would defend him, again going against the US intelligence agencies, is beyond disgusting. It's traitorous.

Trump's disdain for journalists is of course a projection of his own fear and hate of truth. His whole life has been a war on truth and truthfulness, and with it a war on the very notions of character and integrity that give rise to truth and truthfulness. His life and his soul are one big lie.
