Bud, Trump pardoning the guy would have the same effect as you or me pardoning the guy.
It would literally be like Michael Scott's effort to declare bankruptcy.

Bud, I'm aware of what the law is. I'm saying that I am skeptical these days due to the president trampling laws, etc. If you can't understand that, then I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully you dont feel the need to be a pompous jerk about it too.
In your conception of the law, what would happen if Donald Trump signed a piece of paper declaring that this dude was pardoned for various state crimes he’s been arrested for and charged with?
Yes. I get that you are skeptical. But you are also not listening.
The issue isn't that we trust Trump or courts. It's that mechanically there isn't a way for him to trample that law in that way. It isn't that there's a law saying he can't. It's that there's no way for him to do it.
Trump cannot issue pardons on the state level. If he tries to pardon the guy, the State of MN will ignore his "pardon" and nothing will happen unless the federal govt decides to press it in the courts. At this point there's nothing to indicate fed courts or SCOTUS would rule against Minnesota.
