BREAKING (AGAIN): The White House said it has fired CDC director Susan Monarez, who clashed with @seckennedy.govpeeps.us over vaccine policy. Confirmed by the Senate, she had refused to resign unless the WH fired her.

But only the president can fire a Senate-confirmed appointee. This WH statement says “the White House has terminated Monarez.” Why?

You know it’s authoritarianism because she was confirmed by Republicans on a party line vote after Trump’s nomination—and that is still not enough for Republicans to do anything.

Killing us all to own the libs.

Never allow the anti science villains to sway your thinking no matter how much power or influence they may have. They are simply wrong.

Who fired her?

Thanks for updating
Hope nyt follows up to verify that Trump himself chose to fire CDC director Monarez
Especially because of Trump’s claims about the autopen
And because Trump has a consistent “major questions” doctrine which is “Trump is never responsible for any unpleasant news”

The single good thing that happened in Trump’s first term was Operation Warp Speed, the project that accelerated the development of a Covid vaccine. Now, by firing his appointee as head of the CDC, Trump is choosing RFK’s antivax bullshit over his own legacy. The stupidity of this man is depthless.
