  1. Arguably the absolute fucking weird example of this I ever encountered was the visible distaste a woman from Taos had for Albuquerque. Blacks make up maybe 2% of the state population--- but where are they located? 🤔 This is totally why certain elements are trying kill free buses there too.

  2. In Wisconsin they will literally say “we would win if it weren’t for Milwaukee and Madison”. Oh you mean where all the people actually live? And the only cities with black people?

  3. It’s the same here in rural New York State. The locals hate Buffalo/Rochester because in their mind, they are islands of Black people.

  4. Minnesotans love being scared of Minneapolis. Right up there with remembering the Halloween Blizzard of 1991. Wouldn't know what to do with their time otherwise.

  8. I moved from Denver to Oakland in 2007. Stopped in Reno at one point to check into a motel for the night. Had my 🐈 with me so it was clear I was moving - the clerk asked me where I was going. "Bay Area." "San Francisco is great!" "I'm moving to Oakland." ".... oh."

    "Her face fell" - understatement.

  10. Yeah in Cleveland the river is the boundary, people make up all sorts of excuses about why they don’t want to go to the east side.

  11. As absurd as it seems, people here in rural Vermont talk about visiting Burlington as if they’re headed to Mogadishu. That’s Burlington Vermont!

  12. Memphis. There’s a level of unreasoning hatred of Memphis from the white people living around Memphis that I never understood until I realized it was just racism.
