I just had this conversation w/ someone this morning. The social meaning of owning a F-150 is basically the opposite of the cultural meaning of a pickup throughout my life and most of the 20th century. Most ppl I know who drive one don't ever use it to haul stuff, it's purely a status purchase.

Once a symbol of rural grit, the image of the best-selling Ford F-150 has evolved within the music genre that loves it.

After our well used 30 yr old truck was stolen and ruined, we replaced it with a slightly used F 150 4WD. Basic dash functions. Full Sized Bed, no back seat and it came with a couple mild starter dings. Its very hard to find a full sized bed farm/business truck any more, so we're happy to have it.

  1. If you're using it as a truck, it's a fine truck. But most ppl driving them do not. My father's got one of the big King Ranch Editions, though he lives in town and hasn't owned horses in years. The bed is pristine.
