Hurricane Erin is now a rare Category 5.

The storm is forecast to at least double or triple in size next week. cnn.it/4mGNDqd

  1. Wouldn’t it be educational if the category 5 hurricane Erin paid a visit to the White House and scooped it up! Maybe Trump and his cronies would finally understand how global warming affects the United States?

  2. everyone saying β€œit won’t hit the US” - The US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are most definitely going to get hit.

  3. Thank goodness, this Cat 5 Hurricane NOT forecast to strike USA. But conditions causing this storm to worsen to Cat 5 ++ have not disappeared. NO wonder Trump-GOP wants to stop NOAA from reporting this life-threatening catastrophic effect of climate change. Scientific facts=results condemn them.

  4. Any chance we can lobby it to take out MaraLago? Maybe offer to turbocharge it w/a nuclear bomb or something? Maybe if it had typed in all caps w/thoughts & prayers.

  5. β€œRare” shouldn’t be used to describe phenomena like this anymore, when we’re seeing more of them every year due to warmer water, & driven by climate change.

Maybe we should report more on that & how the DOJ didn’t release the Epstein files subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee.

  6. Why are we concerned it's turned up north into the ocean... We need to stay focused on real matters at hand, unless this changes.

  7. "Rare" Cat 5 storm before climate change started taking off.

Going to have to redo the scale due to how warm the planet is getting. So much energy in the atmosphere for these storms to take advantage of. Can't wait to see 6 or even 7 level storms in a decade at this point. 😭😭😭

  8. It's the crazy ass Democrats and their weather machine just out to piss on this e poor weak beta Republicans!

  9. There have been 9 cat 5s since 2016, out of a total of 63 hurricanes in the Atlantic basin. That’s 14.28% of the total.

That isn’t β€œrare” by any stretch.

Now, if we look back to 1935 there have been 40 total, or about 4% which one might characterize as rare.

    Seems like it’s getting worseπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

  10. Don't you mean "what used to be a rare Category 5" storm?

    Stop pushing Republican lies.

    This is climate change.

    This is the new normal.

It only gets worse from here.

Please wash away Trump with his whole cadre of family & supporters, including all international racist & fascists too

  13. Luckily for the USA, there's a Trump of a president that can trump as much or as less as he wants. Just never trust a trump as it might "follow through" and shit on everything

  14. My math is limited. Is a (🐱5 x 2)= equal to or less than or greater than a 🐱10?

    Seriously.

Also, will it be powerfull enough to release the Epstein files?

  15. RARE!?!? FFS CNN, Stop fluffing climate deniers!! Cat 5s are NOT β€œrare”, jfc. I’ll tell you what’s rare, a major hurricane only appearing in August, and that we’ve only had 5 storms since June. THAT’S unusual.πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ You are sadly just posting clickbait headlines like this one. smgdh

  16. Hey, CNN - tell me someone has given Haiti and the D.R. a heads up? Hopefully there's someone there who is watching this monster defy forecasts.

Unless you can see the warnings at nhc/noaa that I can't.

  17. Shame about NOAA and FEMA. Would be good to know when one of these is going to hit, and get some help with the aftermath. Oh well, fraud, waste and abuse πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

  18. @cnn.com maybe you should be taking climate change more seriously and do some real genuine reporting on the subject to encourage education on the subject and acknowledge your false reporting in the past with the false two sides β€œbalanced” bias and platforming denialism

  19. The democrats have been out of state, working in a secret lab, to add chemicals to the air, to make this bigger, as revenge against MAGA.

  20. I'm glad the POTUS has a magic Sharpie. He'll whip it out and draw a new, less dangerous storm track.

  21. I predict that by 2030 we will see a category 6 or higher storm. It will completely sink florida and flood NY city like a biblical flood.

Can you contact our Jewish friends in charge of the weather? I have a request for this category 5 to go to category 6 and hit Mara- Lardo.

  24. Looks like it's going to remain nearly that powerful for the next 5 days too, which is pretty incredible. Very lucky it is not expected to be anywhere near land during that time. Just a little brush to the north of PR and the Virgin Islands, then nothing but open water.

  25. It's obvious that it'll boomerang itself away from the US, so everyone don't fret.

  26. No @cnn.com , Category 5 hurricanes are no longer "rare."

So much so that there's a discussion about adding another category at the top of the Saffir-Simpson scale because Category 5 no longer reflects the true nature of severe cyclones (anything 157 mph and above is a Category 5).

  27. Many hit will get what they voted for and that’s sad. Many hit will get what they voted against and must suffer because of political greed and hate. That’s horrific

  28. There's enough energy in the ocean and the atmosphere for this to be of no surprise.

  29. But climate change is a hoax. Coal and oil are great. Renewable energy is bad. Just keep believing.

  30. Milwaukee had a 1000 year flood - over one foot rain in just a few hours. Insurance companies are working overtime now.

The Chattanooga area had massive flooding, and some people died.

Meanwhile our National Guard are busy doing traffic patrol.
