I have that reaction to Gavin Newsom, but Pete comes off as disciplined and diplomatic to me. It won't be popular on this particular thread, but I don't think fighting for fighting's sake is productive. Strategic fighting, consensus-building, and mission-focused make more sense to me.

True. But you build enemies by being overly or unnecessarily confrontational. And leadership, in a democracy, requires consensus. If you just want someone to barge in a demand this and that, you're just looking for a dictator who shares your belief system.
