    And even if you did manage to sue and get an order for them to pay, the money will almost certainly come out of your city's general fund so the cops won't actually be out any money themselves.

    I once had my morning interrupted by 12 US Marshalls storming my apartment in search of a fugitive. Wrong address. They went to the right address next and assaulted my neighbors. Wrong Intel. The right house was across town.

    They were looking for a kidnapper. Lost time and harassed citizens.
