Selfish on my part to wish it. Many Jews were displaced from the West Bank and Jerusalem in 1948 when Jordon occupied it until 1967. When Israel recaptured the land after the Six Day War in 1967, of course Jews would want to resettle back. But the Muslim majority of the UN claimed they couldn't.
I've read jews were removed from Hebron in 1939 by the British, & the 1948 war displaced 100s of 1000s of palistinians; after 1967, some jewish settlements were reestablished. Now jews are ousting palestinians from their homes there in greater numbers, many who lived there for 100s of years.
