I get your point, but the dad is probably better able to speak about his son than write about him. Not everyone can express themselves in writing, and so that obit, AI slop as it was, seemed beautiful and touching to him. That's the big problem. To non-writers, AI slop looks smart and profound.
I think its really "to non-readers" as opposed to non-writers. Composing good prose is real hard, but parsing good from bad takes literacy.
