"claimed" is the key word here. Republicans never had any morals or integrity - but they are masters at hate, lies & propaganda - & Americans believed them.

The GOP abandoned any sense of moral integrity, ethical decency, and any shred to honesty & truthfulness many years ago. I think it was around 2016. Surprisingly, I think DEPLORABLE is the correct adjective to describe the current GOP.
