Israel aside (it's a big aside) I really think the post-Biden/Harris Dem primary voter will want Dems who can talk straight, and these Buttigieg answers have been word-shaped air.
“Look, I get it. [more white noise]”

“Look, I get it. [more white noise]”
(Feels but isn't really) ironic considering how frequently he's gone viral in left-leaning circles for his sharp Fox News hits during the Trump era.
Running the 2008 playbook in 2025
Buttigieg didn’t win the nomination in 2024 for a reason. He has great rhetorical gifts but they can only cover for so much
disagree 🤷
He is very clearly using a lot of words to say nothing because the issue is fraught and he doesn't want to take a stand, and like, people can actually spot that!
Is he losing the cogent, powerful retort branding?
Word-shaped farts
I had been lulled into thinking Pete was an elite public communicator from his hostile Fox News appearances. But he really shit the bed in trying to split the baby on trans sports. Just speak honestly! Instead he came across as a calculating phony.
When have American voters ever liked someone who "talked straight"?
They want Razzle Dazzle.
Buttigieg genuinely sounds like an AI chatbot here. Vague and repetitive and making gestures at sounding like he’s being sympathetic but it’s just a procedurally generated word salad that means nothing at all
🐀🐀🐀
Voters want what TV viewers want, someone that can keep their attention for more than 15 seconds.
Liberal genocide is not the answer. Pete deserves all the push back and more. Another feckless politician.
Well bless your punditry heart
For a great communicator, he's been really shitty lately. Maybe he's just bad at communicating when he has to cover up his particularly bad takes.
Would voters even want someone for whom words fail?
Blaming "words" for his failure. What an asshole. I like words. They don't fail.
Buttigieg has been running for President since he was five years old, and I really don’t think the “my beliefs are whatever makes you more likely to vote for me” style of politician is going to be in demand after an administration like this
Same thing with the Maxwell Frost interview on The Majority Report yesterday. That was hot garbage
He's purposefully trying to say nothing to not annoy anybody and, at the risk of speaking President Buttigieg into existence, I can't imagine that's a thing anybody goes for anymore
Contra this Beto piece wherein he's very straightforward, imo
newrepublic.com/article/1991...
The Democrat, currently in the trenches of the Lone Star State’s redistricting fight, tells The New Republic, “This is it. This is for all the marbles.”
“The killing and starvation of children in Gaza is unacceptable”. It’s as simple as that. Why are Dems so afraid to possibly offend people?
There are four major players that do not recognize Palestine as a nation. The US, Canada, the UK, and France. Last week France announced they will officially recognize Palestine in September. I can see Canada also doing this soon.
His ceiling is VP and he might even be a liability there cause he doesn’t really win over any key demos
The words match the man. Performative nonsense.
"I have heard the words loud and clear and I understand them completely"
The verbal equivalent of squid ink
He’s the worst. APAIC paid spokesperson…
He was opaque and “word salad” in so many of his responses. I am still fan, but unhappy with his wavering on tough issues.
There are SOME upsides to the leftist insistence of "say it clearly and with your chest or don't say it at all" and I think one of those is going to be the gradual abandonment for Buttigieg for repeatedly fumbling that test.
1 - I want a Dem to say in a debate, "thats such horseshit, and here's why..." 2 - How hard is it to say, "Trans Americans, like all of us, want the right to live as we must, and to live freely." The rest is just logistics.
It isn’t hard, genocide is wrong.
Anyone who cannot say this doesn’t belong in public service.
i don’t understand the appeal of this man at all.
I don't know WTH the consultant class imagines, because the enormity of this crime is such that neutrality on its existence is an indictment against the conscience itself.
You can't walk this back. You've shown what you are @petebuttigieg.bsky.social
