See new essays in New Republic. I have gathered and edited eleven essays by historians on teaching and writing history in the time of Trump. We are fighting back! I'll be on MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell tonight at 10 to talk about the special issue of TNR. newrepublic.com/series/67/tr...

How is Trump changing our sense of who we are? We asked eminent Yale historian David W. Blight to round up some colleagues to consider the question. Here’s what they had to say.

  1. Watching.. thank you for exposing Heritage Foundation’s President Kevin Roberts, who is also closely linked w/ Opus Dei. As one of the architects of Project 2025, he said the revolution would be bloodless if the left allows it to be? Well..Roberts can fuck all the way back to the 19th century.

Thank you for bringing up Kevin Roberts vicious attacks on history. Trump listens to those who are angry and hateful which is why Roberts appeals to him. I’m glad you and your fellow historians are fighting back for all of us. Understanding our past is now unpatriotic. Whitewashing history are lies.

  5. Thank you @dblight.bsky.social for your wonderful article & discussion on Kevin Roberts & The Heritage Foundation. Thank you for speaking so straightforwardly on the basics of what Heritage is doing to our country; the destruction of it. Shining the light on these unAmerican people is SO important.

  6. Hello Professor, Blight and what an honor it was to see you on MSNBC last night. Better believe we are fighting back with regards to protecting our U.S. Constitution which the GOP took an oath to protect and uphold and have chucked it under the bus. Out West we call this GOP abuse: "Broken Arrow"

  8. Prof, I'm excited by your idea & the passion that you share. I would pay to see that debate. (Long-time fan here! I don't know why I didn't follow you sooner.)

Let's also look into the ties between the Heritage Fdn & Epstein's criminal defense attorneys. I believe there's more there.

    STAY LOUD 🇺🇸

  10. The French Enlightenment was profoundly antisemitic. Whatever was needed to be an enlightened human being, Jews didn't have and couldn't acquire. The American Enlightenment wasn’t.
