Today marks the anniversary of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote. Though it would take time to be implemented for all women, this was a landmark turning point in U.S. history.
We honor this legacy by continuing to fight for a democracy that truly represents and works for all.

To clarify: this applied to white women. All a powerful reminder to fight any efforts to suppress or take away the right to vote.

I’m 80. If I live long enough and lose the right to vote - I will be flabbergasted. My husband, before he died in 2019, warned me they will try.
Some misinformation going on in the comments. The 15th Amendment preceded the 19th. As the post indicates, implementation was blocked at lower levels, but the 19th Amendment does not strike any Rights codified by the 15th.

Many woman don’t realize that the Equal Rights Amendment has never been ratified. None of this is a guarantee. It’s just crazy to see how far backwards we have gone in such a short time.
