It sounds like this person heard "assigned female at birth" and assumed it was replacing the term "woman" in any context, which I don't think would happen had they not already been primed to believe this by bad faith "the libs want to erase women!!" stuff coming from the right.
I got into it with someone who was mad about a "period party" which was an event distributing mensural products to "mensurating people" in the community.
