I have never seen so many public servants protest the mismanagement of a government. Trumpists will point to this as proof of the deep state, but the reality is that these are professionals who are desperately trying to get the public to understand how bad things are.

  1. I honestly don't care one bit about what a Trumpist cares about anything. Like... at all. They are the root cause of everything we suffer today because they were thrilled to get a big mouthed buffoon in office.

This is about letting everyone else know what the fuck is happening because a moron won.

  2. Except for civil service workers, a President of any party should be able fire or retain anyone they want. Government work is not some sacrosanct sinecure.

  3. Republicans didn’t like it when an estimated 5 million Americans took to the streets for “No Kings” protests on June 14th because Trump is ignoring the U.S. Constitution by acting like a king or dictator. We will vote them out in 2026 but until then let’s participate in more pro-democracy protests.

  4. Really, things must be so bad internally that the most solid of ppl are saying “ENOUGH”. Hope this gives other agencies some ideas.

  5. And it will expose a very uncomfortable truth: the public doesn't give a fuck. Not until the harm is more widespread and undeniable.

Idealism is suspended. Democracy and liberalism are just words and propaganda. People believe in celebrities, being entertained, and credit cards not being declined.

  6. May our fight to dismantle authoritarianism in this country not take as long as it did for 1940s Germany....

The Trumpists are the “Deep State.” They’re the conspiracy theorists, weirdos, nut jobs and crackpots that have taken over our government with their lies, fear and hatred and many feel for it. That’s why we’re now in this catastrophic state. They’re waking up to what they did. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

  8. Most people outside of government don't get how deeply most of us in government care about the work and we and our colleagues do. It's why we stick around, and the longer we stick around the more we become guardians of our particular agency's mission and culture.

  9. I love how there’s still a deep state that offers zero resistance to fascism

Every single Republican Senator who voted for RFK should be forced to wear a name tag that says one of three things: “I’m corrupt.” “I’m a pussy who can’t stand up to Trump.” “I’m fucking gullible.” to have voted for that yam-faced charlatan speaks volumes about their moral compasses

  11. These people were shot at in their workplace less than a month ago, and they're willing to stand outside and publicly say they oppose what the decaying of their purpose. Just incredible bravery

  12. “Deep state” for them is anybody in government who doesn’t think they personally work for Trump. So yeah, fidelity to law or professional ethics are both suspect

Unfortunately people will not understand how bad things are until a crisis happens that directly affects them. When that happens, they and the Trump administration will just blame Biden.

  14. If you think about it, this does not only effect the US. The CDC does a lot of work outside the US too, not as much as WHO, but still a fair bit.

  17. The idea of what a civil service does has been distorted so much. Not helped in UK by a sitcom (Yes, Minister, layer Yes, Prime Minister) which politicians treat as a documentary.

It’s a shame, I don’t know how you would get peoples brains fixed after they have been so mentally cooked into thinking federal employees are out to get you.

You would unironically need re-education camps. 30-50 year olds need to retake elementary school.

  19. When a fulcrum point opens, jam the lever in and start prying. These opportunities occur organically and I think we should be encouraged by the fact that Democrats aren't missing any of them. The pressure is building nicely.

  20. Hubby is retired EPA. They’ve been protesting. They’re much more spread out across the country than CDC so it doesn’t seem so large.

  21. The reality of us came up strongly today for me. Covid is active again and I have taken some classes, and the teacher is concerned enough to want to limit the size of the classes in part because is on the rise again, and it is a new strain. Meanwhile RFK jr is downplaying it.

  22. I tom the question that everyone needs to ask themselves is, how lucky are we feeling as a people? Because with any amount of bad luck this shit will go so bad so fast

  23. The trumpists ARE the deep state now and in a way have always been. It's just now that they're out of their basements and into every corner of our government. They need to be exterminated.

  24. It makes sense that it’s the CDC. They’re not really used to their agency being politicized, and they fully understand that there are very real, very bad real-world consequences if these whack jobs Trump has put in charge of public health get their way.

  25. Good start. General strikes and grinding this economy to a halt are the only viable way forward.

  26. T needs to be reminded that he would have died from covid in 2020, had it not been for the CDC.

  27. Good for them. Hey Dem leaders, if these professionals whose livelihoods are on the line can stand up for what is right and name what is happening- don't you think you could as well?

  28. Just checked the websites of the three main TV stations here in Columbus, OH for some CDC news:

One had a wire story way down the page about the CDC director being fired and others resigning.

One had a promoted link to an article from The Hill about CDC having to be more "MAHA”.

    One had nothing.

  29. So proud of them all. People who choose to work in public health are some of the most committed folks I’ve ever met. I always wanted to work for CDC and am heartbroken to see all of this

  30. "Proof of the deep state."

Honestly, it's pretty funny that conspiracy theorists are going to have to change their image of the villainous puppetmasters from a few dozen wealthy elites in a smoke-filled room to stadiums full of working professionals drawing modest salaries.

  31. The public understands. The public doesn’t know what to do. The public is ready to do something.

  32. Do not let Trump get by with this bullshit. Like it is absurd to think all these experts are deep state-ALL OF THEM, SO MANY OF THEM, EVERYWHERE, AT EVERY AGENCY, ALL AGAINST TRUMP, ALL BIDEN APPOINTEES

  33. Hey Gov. Brian Kemp. The orange menace and brain worm are dismantling and discrediting one of Georgia’s premier world renowned agencies, the CDC. Can you fucking stop them!

  34. Their HQ was shot up, Medical Professionals are resigning, and now a walk out. Americans need to pay attention and now, our public safety is at risk

  35. It is not just that these employees are risking being put on leave or even fired for standing up for science (see EPA/FEMA officials), they are standing in front of a workplace that was the subject of a terrorist attack a couple of weeks ago, by a man who believes what their boss believes.

    pro CDC signs

  36. This isn't quite right. "Walkout" makes it sound like a mass quitting or mass work stoppage. Which isn't what actually happened.

  37. They are professionals who will most likely lose their jobs and despite that they try to wake us all up. Because it is that bad.

  38. Sad how the media won’t cover this in a meaningful way or even remotely as they did with Biden’s age.
