1. You may have noticed something. I used to talk about the president’s dementia pretty regularly, but haven’t in months. That’s because I’ve lost faith. I used to believe the Washington press corps would see the plainly obvious. I no longer believe that. The hypocrisy is too baked in.

  1. Imagine if Biden had wobbled down that red carpet. It’d be wall to wall coverage on FOX and OWN. But they completely ignored it. And the NYT as well.

    1. It would appear trump gets away with specious BS because his supporters love magical thinking. No matter what rambling lies he uses to get to a “point” the followers love it because that's how they think.

They lack the capacity to be rational.

  2. The shocking part is how fast the msm caved! The profits of these companies have overtaken their core objectives. This country has a lot of decisions to make!

  3. I worked for several movie studios and for the people who run them - all Presidents are covered according to how the government wants them to be portrayed. Many times the government would brief us studio employees on what to show and when to show it. US media perception management is very intense.

  4. I encourage you to continue to talk about Trump’s dementia. We can’t just accept it. It’s dangerous & his greedy enablers must be reminded that enabling him is a danger to us all. A quote I like says “People don’t change when they see the light. They change when they feel the heat.” Heat it up.

  5. A+ 🧵 But have you heard anyone from media ask DT about his demented posts? No, and you won't, ever.

He could have performed a sex act on Putin on the red carpet, and the media would have marveled at his "unconventional negotiating tactics."

  6. There is a deep state but it's a conservative one, crafted over decades of GOP sugar daddies funding think tanks, activist orgs, RW media and other infrastructure that promotes conservatism and attacks liberalism to create a permanent Republican majority. Trump has been a useful tool for them.

  7. IF Biden had EVER spewed this complete incoherent nonsense, it would have been non-stop coverage, screaming questions at him, talking to experts about dementia, and calling for his resignation, but they don’t care about actual journalism and that’s been clear since he came down that elevator.

  8. The Dogtor wants you to know it’s okay to take care of your mental health. We all get knocked down. When you’re ready to get back up, we’re here to help.

  9. Hypocrisy and transparency. 2 important themes Dems SHOULD be using against their opponents and the press.

I am tired of the double standards. ANGRY, actually.

  10. I think that's a pretty bleak assessment, but I'm not sure I blame you for losing faith. It's hard to keep believing in institutions when they seem to be more interested in protecting their own narratives than telling the truth.

  11. I got educated about Newsom via comments in a here. Hes a giant pos. The sad facts if it were greasy Gavin vs jd vance or the greasman vs rfk jr. I'd unhappily vote for Newsom. Yes I want to chose between 2 great candidates. Or better 3 or 4. Thats a pipe dream. Newsom is trolling truth to power

  12. What about all the info being released by independent media? i think we've seen its power in the millions of people showing up in protests, the damning data people bring to red-state town halls etc

it's time to turn the narrative around. surely, journalists must see the power in that?

  13. There is proof that the 4th estate is dead. When Trump started kicking out REAL organizations asking REAL questions NONE of them boycotted Trump in solidarity. NOT ONE! I'll call it, Cause of death: profit worship fear of losing access general cowardice laziness apathy

  14. Really the only mainstream media person calling out Trump’s dementia and stupidity is Laurence O’Donnell

  15. They were like a dog with a bone over emails, a laptop and even saying Biden had dementia but they can't muster the same energy over his dementia or his obvious crimes and unconstitutional policies.

  16. So we have now come to POTUS blaming a million deaths in Ukraine on our mail-in voting rather than the criminal that invaded another country!

  17. Here's what everybody is missing. Trump's base dgaf how silly or deluded he is because he's just God's blunt instrument for destroying the secular govt, and he's doing a great job so far. You wouldn't ask a hammer what it thinks 🤷‍♀️

  18. Stephen Miller and Russell Vought are the where the real power/madness lies. trump is just a figurehead.

  19. It’s something. Emperor. No clothes.Blah blah blah. Not like they have a blueprint for this kind of inquiry.

  20. I support the theory of Trump being less than mentally fit and stable. But dementia? Can't be an evil mastermind trying to become dictator on day 1 while suffering from dementia. I think he's a low-iq borderline personality with too much $ and too many wicked "friends"

    1
  21. You'd need to be blind, deaf, and dumb not to see Trump's incapacity, journalists simply aren't allowed to tell the truth about what they all know by editors and publishers, and without risking their careers.

  22. Trump has been displaying symptoms of dementia for a long time. Anyone with a family member with dementia should recognize it. Don’t lose faith in the people, even if the MSM has portrayed him as a sentient being.

  23. debgt.bsky.social profile picture

They see it - they’re just afraid of the blowback if they report on it, so they pretend it’s not there. Courage is not their strong suit.

  24. I think MSM journalists have orders from their corporate owners to tread lightly. Note that large protests never make national news on MSM. They are now a part of the problem, not the solution. No allegiance to truth or facts unless it benefits them financially.

  25. The story of Trump is the story of his total domination of the media—right wing, MSM, and alternative media. The Left simply cannot figure out how to overcome it.

    1. The double standard that prevents political reporters from seeing Donald Trump’s totalitarianism is the same double standard that prevents them from seeing his dementia. He doesn’t make choices. Only Democrats do. He can’t be held responsible for what he says.

  26. I have an AARP membership. Not fortunate enough to be retired but I joined for the cheap car ins. Anyhoo I was horrified in Oct 2024 when they did a side by side candidate issue AS IF EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. No mention of him being a convicted felon, nothing about Jan 6 and his false election claims

  27. It's not hypocrisy, it billionaire oligarchy class control of the old media!! Stop reading this crap and stop watching it!! Much better sources of facts, information and knowledge are available now.

  28. Some may have the fear of having their WH Press Corp credentials revoked. I believe that MSM is definitely walking a line down the middle to avoid this. Terrible excuse if that is the reason.

    0
  29. It’s not hypocrisy, per se. It’s access. That is the DC press corps’ reason for being. Why would NPR book Steve Bannon? Because they believe he gives them access. (Didn’t stop the defunding, so maybe a bad call.)

  30. They’re smart enough to see it, but are afraid to say it because of firings, lawsuits, threats, etc.

There wasn’t threats of anything like that with Biden.

  31. They've normalized ignoring red flags

    They've normalized silencing the loudest

They've normalized presidents who are convicted felons, rapists and pedophiles

    So instead....

They've sensationalized anyone brown or black who has overstayed their visit to the US

  32. The tide may be turning. Both USA Today and The Hill recently had headlines about cognitive decline. (Took them long enough).

  33. Armchair gerontologists are off-putting.

No one has officially diagnosed Trump with dementia, so it'd be better to focus on him being grossly incompetent at his job regardless of the cause. He was grossly incompetent as a real estate developer, 20 years ago, and no one cried "dementia."

    2
  34. It's time to consider the quiet part. He has assassins. If someone doesn't fall in line or take the bribes, threats, or blackmail? I think they die. Do you really think Ivanna fell downstairs? Some "nut" assassinated certain democratic US senators? We know putins MO, and he is mentoring donold.

    2
  35. Part of the problem is that he is and has always been abysmally stupid. As the ratio of stupid to demented shifts the import of the change is harder to detect. It’s safer and easier to default to stupid. And, of course, they don’t want to say “stupid” out loud so they’ll just drop breadcrumbs.

  36. If journalists won’t treat the insane lies he tells as insane lies, I wish they would take them literally and ask questions of him & other Republicans in that basis.

    0
  37. They don’t want to lose WH access. They knew Biden would never revoke credentials or go after reporters, so they pummeled him at pressers & tore into him in print. They know Trump will cut them out, so they coddle him & ignore the obvious. They aren’t journalists. They’re future book writers.

  38. As soon as the first network surrendered to a spurious trump lawsuit against them, it became certain that the media would temper their reporting on trump’s lies and obvious decline both physically and mentally.

  39. Shift blame from a single ‘infallible’ character to the whole party. Move from blaming low T to blaming all republicans. Citizens old enough to vote must recognize the damage inflicted by the entire republican party. It’s beyond the shitstain we call Dementia John Trumpstein.

    Blame conservatives!

  40. Flood the zone with clips of then and now Trump.

The rumor in the 80s was that Nancy Regan basically ran the country while Ronald was in decline. Looking back, it was probably the Heritage puppet masters. Trump has even more sinister puppet masters. We need Republicans in Congress to stand up.

  41. MSM were too busy reporting on whether Biden had declined in capacity to govern & on Hunter, they didn’t bother to report on all the bills passed & how it benefitted the people. Jobs, manufacturing, drug prices, VA, etc, many had no idea. Many gone &crickets from MSM about how it’s affecting people.

    1
  42. not mention they slandered Biden his whole term about being too old.....

yet Donald Trump became the oldest president to be elected, ever.(yes maga, he is older than Biden was when he started his term) how come yall won't talk about trumps mental decline and advanced age, hypocrisy much?

  43. American democracy is gone. We are living under a billionaire bought oligarchy with a greedy, corrupt, incompetent old narcissist at the top.

  44. Sadly, I felt this way when Reagan was in power and I was a child then so I don't know what to say. I guess, glad more people see it now, still not enough and even fewer get how long this has been the norm. The American media is rightwing and always was.
