  1. I'm seeing a lot of big accounts missing the mark on this story. HHS through BARDA is cancelling contracts for mRNA vaccine research related to viral respiratory illnesses. This does not affect mRNA cancer research by NIH and Moderna.

It's still bad news but let's try to keep our facts straight.

Screen grab of a section of the HHS press release which is black text on white background.

The wind-down affects a range of programs including:Termination of contracts with Emory University and Tiba Biotech.De-scoping of mRNA-related work in existing contracts with Luminary Labs, ModeX, and Seqirus.Rejection or cancellation of multiple pre-award solicitations, including proposals from Pfizer, Sanofi Pasteur, CSL Seqirus, Gritstone, and others, as part of BARDA’s Rapid Response Partnership Vehicle (RRPV) and VITAL Hub.Restructuring of collaborations with DoD-JPEO, affecting nucleic acid-based vaccine projects with AAHI, AstraZeneca, HDT Bio, and Moderna/UTMB.

  3. I’m sick of governments that ban things to “fix” a problem while refusing to address the underlying cause.

Abortion bans don’t fix the birth rate.

Junk food bans don’t fix obesity.

Vaccine bans won’t fix chronic illness.

    Mask bans won’t fix crime.

in public all of MAGA will keep the line that he’s an American hero

in private everyone he knows is forming a mock protective circle around him every time they see a tween in public, this is his life now

imagine being a 19 year old man and having both the president and the wealthiest man in the world claim you fought off a dozen men and then like two hours later it becoming public knowledge you got your shit wrecked by a fuckin’ 15 year old

  5. The main exception, and probably what Google picked up on, is if you’re traveling with both a service dog and a pet. Then you can buy a second seat to accommodate one of the animals, thus giving disabled people with service animals “equal” access to traveling with a pet.

  6. Yeah, I’m familiar with Google. I also regularly fly with a service dog, and have tried to help my sister fly with a larger pet dog. The Google AI summary is not particularly accurate. Most airlines do not allow you to buy a seat for your dog, though some did used to.

  7. That’s definitely not their usual policy. Especially not American Airlines, which is by far the most service animal hostile airline I’ve ever flown with. It took literally months for them to approve my trained service chihuahua, who flies on my lap.
