Even a cursory glance at his ideas shows they make no sense. He argues that the dollar is overvalued and so we need to tariffs to reduce the value to make us competitive as a manufacturing economy. But he also argues that tariffs aren't inflationary as long as the dollar strengthens.
He's clearly arguing for a weak currency and a massive increase in inflation (ie higher cost of living) because he fetishizes the idea of factory jobs. Those jobs were a means to an end, a strong middle class, not an ends to aspire towards. A sweatshop economy is bad, actually.
