A viral video has claimed that from 12 September, UK supermarkets won’t allow shoppers to enter unless they have a government-issued photo ID.
But the British Retail Consortium has told us this is false, and there are no plans for any such policy.

In many stores in the US they have someone on the door checking your receipts before you leave.... so you can see where ideas like this spring from. When I taught in TN I was really shocked to be asked to show my receipts.... as if I'd shoplifted
Wondered who could believe such a thing, as there would be signs up all over the shops giving advance notice.
