  1. Hope you don’t mind me sharing this again here:

Thank you for your column. I was so excited the Olympics were coming to LA. I signed up to volunteer when we were bidding for LA2024. Now all I can envision is something like the Berlin 1936 Games. It makes me so sad and so mad. #LA2028

  2. I worked for an official sponsor during the 84 games. It was a financial bust. The promised boom in tourism and retail never happened. The only winners were the highly corrupted IOC. Gustavo is absolutely right. LA should pull out while we can. The PR benefits hardly offset the costs.

  3. LA28 also completely ignores the fact that international tourism to LA is way down. Why would one expect either the World Cup or the Olympics to sprinkle pixie dust in the eyes of tourists to entice them to come here?

  4. To use a trope: The US Olympic Team has a chance to do the funniest thing.

Imagine if the US Olympic Team announced they've pulled out of the Olympic Games IN the US. Aside that they'd lose some funding (easy fix), it'd send a STRONG message from home...IOC and the world couldn't ignore it.

  5. I couldn’t agree with this more. Don’t need it. Don’t want it. The IOC is also 💯 corrupt. Cancel it now.
