As a federal prosecutor who routinely subpoenaed phone records, I know that there was nothing wrong with obtaining the records of the senators involved. They are using the U.S. Treasury as a personal piggybank.

I've never understood why US politicians are allowed to add random, irrelevant amendments to legislation. You realise this stuff isn't allowed in most democracies right?
