I think part of it is that, no matter how good the economy is, someone somewhere is having a rough go.

So even when inflation is low, there's someone who finds their grocery bill to be a burden, and someone else who's eager to dunk on you for disregarding that person's lived experience.

And I get it. "Devil take the hindmost" is the other side's ethos, not ours. When we hear that the median earner is doing okay, we immediately think "okay, but what about the bottom quintile? They're people too."

But inflation is necessarily about the aggregate.
