IIRC, in 1933, the Marine Corps Schools command at Quantico shut down and composed the "Tentative Landing Operations Manual" for the Fleet Marine Force.
The Navy liked it, and put a new cover on it, which is what you have here.
The Army "borrowed" it in 1941 and called it Field Manual 31-5.
