my actual honest theory for(one of the reasons) why things are the way they are is social media broke rich people's brains. they finally got to find out what the rest of us think of them and they hated the discomfort so much they did everything in their power to never have to experience that again.

And, rich people aren't smarter or more immune to brain rot.

My theory is that don't give shit about anyone else but themselves - even their country club buddies are there only to provide more grift for themselves. And the caos helps them grift more.

Perhaps, but the rich have always been a bit messed up; ever read Arthur Machen, Agatha Christie or Orczy?
It did break the smokescreen of calvinist meritocracy, we see them for what they are, as messed up as the European royals of old.
