There's a difference between blame and innocence.
The world is a gray freaking mess. That part of companies is more black than white. But it's a legal entity. It does not know morals.
Hence why, if anything, you should blame a lack of laws surrounding that kind of spending.
Totally agree that we need better regulations, but I find it hard to advocate for that if we fail to identify what companies are doing as problematic and just "business as usual"
Bingo. My problem with the original post was the "companies are dumb for doing this but I'm spending for the things they do haha" If you identified the problem, then stop spending on it and/or start movements to pressure reps to regulate. Also, you kinda need to be specific on the problematic parts
