I prefer ranked voting. My problem with PR is that it will attract too many fringe parties & in a country as diverse as Canada will cause a lot more chaos than in a small, one state country. Our system now would work better if the parties were willing to form coalitions - don't know they won't.
I think coalitions are far better but they have their challenges and I don't pretend to have an answer, but I think the US and UK are a very real example that you can't rely on systems established 200 hundred years plus ago are fit for purpose in a 21st century world unfortunately grey haired men?

Completely agree. But the US is the worst - electoral college, legal gerrymandering, anti democratic senate representation, corporate ownership of candidates - none of these things are a problem in Canada or the UK.
