As expected, dispute appears to be over White House demands to break the law. These aren't 'disputes'. Law is clear on this. Only mystery is how it was that Long, a very Trumpy guy and not part of the ethics community, seems to have not gone along, or not enough.

  3. 2/ govt officials might misuse tax payer information - either for private reasons or illegit public reasons - and impose serious criminal penalties for doing so. So that's important reason why Trump is likely having a harder time than usual getting what he wants on that front.

  4. One question is what happens to the people employed by the gov't who break these procedures or laws? How should they be disciplined? Especially if that are witting collaborators, not just "following orders"? The past performance of the DOG and the various IGs has been abysmal, I would assert.
