We need a law that limits the amount of time you have to wait for immigration action. If the government hasn't found a reason to deny your immigration application within two years after you applied, you're clearly OK to be a citizen.

Yes we use u visas for example for women who were victims of sex trafficking and/or sexual abuse frequently. This is just fucking awful

The thing I still want to know is, did they know this guy, and the other one they detained, were there, or had they just heard that some undocumented immigrants were or might be among those fighting the fire, and went fishing to see who they could catch?

After the fact... That verified the arrest was illegal. If the ID of the individual that first restrained him is is not 100% clear, another strike against the team and commander of the team goes on the evidence pile.
