What's happening in Texas (and possibly NY, CA, IN, and elsewhere) around gerrymandering is a reminder: The Democratic Party needs to invest in winning state legislative races every cycle, all the time. You never know when a crisis will hit and we'll wish we had more seats or different leaders.
Plus, a lot of those races are cheap! You could win a house seat in the NH legislature with $500 and some sandwiches.

At the state level there are 400 of those seats in the NH government, your alleged $500 needs a lot of like-minded people to make a difference.
