We went to the @Tesla Diner last night. As usual, @elonmusk
really sold it. First the good: Tons of excitement, very long lines - iconic and cool look. For the most part ordering from the car was pretty smooth (n.b. you have to be in the parking lot and charging to actually complete your order even if you can browse en route). The burger, grilled cheese, waffle egg bacon sandwich and tallow fries were quite good. Sadly it was a HR and management disaster. Far too many management and staff members being totally useless. (Grossly overstaffed with bottom of the barrel types). They clearly outsourced project management to someone not close to being up to the task. Somebody is skimming a lot. No direction, no leadership, hand written signs everywhere.

said 24/7 but store and 2nd floor closed at 11 and diner closed at midnight - they couldn't even accurately estimate capacity so they kicked people out of line in bunches. Also the majority of the staff looked like they came out of a homeless or junkie shelter. Majority of the kitchen and cleaning crew were sub-sub-contractors very likely illegals (some spoke no English - good thing I speak Espanol). In a sense it's very sad that the sort of people they were able to hire was a stark reminder that the vast supermajority of the working age people in CA are not worth hiring...
