I just can't believe that streaming has gotten so bad you've got young ones out here buying portable cd players

My 15yo has a growing CD collection! Kind of wild to see

As a physical media adherent... this is WONDERFUL. Wait til they discover CD burners so they can share their mix tapes with friends.

- I'm not a young one
- Direct your advice to young ones
- Telling them they're doing it wrong doesn't in fact change that they're doing it

I saw that and thought about it. Kids today have some ok ideas.

It is unfortunate because they have access to wonderful full-resolution recordings from all eras above cd quality either from a quality streamer or a site like bandcamp.

Believe it.

I found my old iPod!

It was inevitable. Stop looking at it like a bad thing, this is good. Things are healing. Digital living was a sickness but we're healing now and moving on.

Just sad I got rid of a bunch of stuff bc... progress

They're also buying cassette players and VCRs

may I ask why streaming has gotten worse? to me it just seems the same level of bad it has always been.

I just found out about this too! owning music is a richer experience than not owning music. and not only can they support record stores, but every library has shelves of $1 CDs. unlike LPs, collecting CDs is totally affordable. this makes me proud of our nation's youth.

I have an old car with a CD player, and it's really nice. I'll miss it when it's gone.

Streaming is terrible but I don't understand why they're not ripping the CDs and putting the music on their phone. Maybe it's a retro fashion thing?

We gave our kid a cd player (found at the goodwill). That way they can listen to music without needing a device. It’s kind of nice not needing a screen for everything.

portable cd players is nuts, you've got to be going with an mp3 player, yall, for real. at the very LEAST get yourself a minidisc player if you need to have something more tangible
