its the part about AI that blows my mind the most. by now, most people know that AI chatbots have modestly high error rates. any sane person would always wonder if the answer they got back was accurate. so why not just look up the answer yourself instead of asking a bot? are people that helpless?

What if you're looking for an answer that doesn't lead itself towards being easy to find using eg the horror that it Google Ad search? Not everything has a good Wikipedia page.

  1. its more a philosophical question. if i know, for any random query, there is a 40% chance im going to get a wrong answer, why even ask the bot the question? because i will need to try and find the answer myself anyway. the whole thing just seems like a waste of time (and its killing the planet too)

  2. If you ask a Chatbot, you have to then verify its answer since it's got decent odds of being bullshit, so you need to figure out how to search for the real answer anyway. Use a better search engine - I like Kagi, others use DuckDuckGo.
