Whenever I feel I need to shake things up a bit, I search for some sort of challenge or limitation to place on myself. For example, picking a random setting, or setting a timer, or including specific scenarios or elements. The limitations seem to help spark creativity. #kidlitchat

Hard question to answer. There are times when the words are flowing and times when they're not. Writing for me is an act of faith: I show up and start fumbling around with words believing that, at some point, my muse will show up, too--as long as she sees me putting in some effort. #kidlitchat

Ask me again in 5 years? I don't think I have the consistency one would need for a rut at the moment, which is its own problem for sure. But I'm trying to develop some. #KidLitChat

#kidlitchat panic (are we talking about kidlit writing and illustrating?) I can tell when panic enters my happy place and I keep thinking. For creative ruts> I usually watch cartoons - tvseries or movies. Or I listen to music or another recorded webinar/ guide learning youtube.

Last year I got out of a writing rut by doing haiku Saturday posts a few times. The small format felt achievable. The accomplishment was enough to reignite my creative spark. #kidlitchat

I like to read or watch a movie for inspiration when Iām in a rut. Sometimes working on a different project helps, too. #kidlitchat
