My most lukewarm take is that every ‘punk’ look you see nowadays with safety pins and tartan etc is inherently not punk because it’s confirming to a set of pre-established rules
Given that the established tropes of 'punk' fashion were created by industry professionals, most notably McLaren & Westwood, was punk even 'punk'?
