Did a good exercise in class today. Students explored death certificates from early-20th century Spokane, then went to online newspapers for the larger stories. It had a real impact and demonstrated how digital resources leverages another. #PublicHistory

    2/ We explored death certificates from 1905-1907 at the Washington State Archives website. Their first impression was the large number of children who died, mostly from what today would be preventable diseases. Also the many violent deaths, accidental and criminal.
