One of the worst things to happen to progressive and leftist spaces was the idea of being a "good person."
Let me explain.
Being a "good person" is subjective. It's also individualistic.

Also I'd argue the idea of a person being "good" or "bad" implies that we as people are one way or the other, a strict binary, instead of something more complex.
That and it implies we are unchanging and static throughout our entire lives.
It's very simplistic and frankly reactionary.

I'm not religious but I am a firm believer in the concept of original sin. i.e. Everyone is born bad. Not just bad, but terrible. Humans are naturally greedy, selfish, exclusionary assholes. Which means we have to constantly be making an effort to be better than we are.

It separates your actions from your identity and makes who you are a destination (I AM a good person) rather than an aspirational goal (I want to do the right thing). The former seeks to absolve harm. The latter allows for improvement over time.
And honestly, it's not enough to be a "good person."

People are not black or white. Everyone is on a gray scale that only them can see.

For a lot of people it ends up boiling down to 'I'm a good person therefore I don't have to do x, y or z.'
