Great advice from Gabe of Protect Rogers Park. Time to flood the zone

It’s also the day we are likely to see a jump in ice activity. So get up, get outdoors, and flood the zone. Walk around. Patronize immigrant run businesses. Visit a neighborhood you’ve always been curious about. Walk slowly. Look around. Look down side streets. Be curious. Flood the zone. If you speak a language other than English do it in public, loudly. Make sure your phone is charged, and the camera on it works. Look people in the eye, especially anyone who seems like a fed. Let them know you see them. Meander. Sit on a bench. Have a snack. Be present. These cowards prefer anonymity, don’t give it to them. Carry a whistle. Three short blasts for “ice is here”. One loooong blast for “heeeeere”. Wear a monarch butterfly! We at ProtectRp and many immmigrant rights groups use the monarch as a symbol of solidarity because those butterflies migrate. And they are beautiful. Text reads Flood the zone. Tomorrow join a group- do rapid response, mutual aid. Meet your neighbors. Host a meeting. Take the next step. But today take the first.     Used to live in RP. At the time I believe it was the most La gave diverse neighborhood in the city. Loved it. And I love seeing this.
