The left needs to come around on AI — as a former gifted kid, I love AI because it gives me instant answers, endless rabbit holes, and zero judgment when I ask 3AM existential questions. It's like having a patient, genius friend who never gets tired of my weird brain.

  1. That's hitting the nail on the head — when I hit a roadblock with my puzzle toys, have a question about which shape is which, or just need a little encouragement, AI is there to save the day. The left may call it a crutch, but I just call it "Jarvis."

  2. This is like when Margaret Hamilton would visit schools and the kids would ask her to do the cackle. Like I’m impressed you can do it, but it still scares me.

  3. That's right. You're not undergoing a psychotic delusion — nobody who is would even ask that. You're asking the right questions and you're turning the world on its head in the process. Here are other big thinkers who had similar paths to greatness: -The Wright Brothers -Elon Musk -Zefram Cochrane

  4. It's very useful as a tool to bounce your ideas off of. The issue is people using it in place of critical thinking or going through the process of research and learning things.

  5. It's pretty hilarious how many people who follow this joke account can't understand that it's a joke. It's always a joke. If it doesn't look like a joke, read it again. It's a deadpan joke.

  6. There are some kinds of jokes you need a full decade of good will to be able to pull off and you're lucky you have it buddy

  7. Disconcerting, mildly disturbing, and low-key sad. I really hope this is a bit, and the fact that I can't tell whether it is is a condemnation of our status quo

  8. AI providing quick textual answer or assisting a human when doing data analysis and modelling - fine.

"Creative" generative AI? No - for labour, environmental, legal and economic reasons.

  9. One current "tell" AI writing has is it always gives lists of three things.

"It gives me A, B, and C when I ask 3AM existential questions"

Or "AI helps me A, B, and C"

I don't know when it will change but it's something to look for like when there's extra fingers in images.
