I think so much of this is people saying, but many Ds used to use anti-gay/anti-trans rhetoric publicly — and I miss it! Well, tough. Anti-gay/anti-trans actions lead to widespread social misery. DADT/DOMA were not workable.
As is said, "Every time you complain we add more genders." Try giving up harder, perhaps.
