  1. News flash: “Coding errors” do not cause the deletion of specific lines of text within a body of text. Do you think we are stupid? The parts you deleted were those that say Congress has the power of the purse, not the president! Disgraceful, and not a “mistake.”

  2. What makes you think anyone will trust anything you say, ever again, while the Trump admin has control of your institution? Bring back Carla Hayden, you lying liars.

  3. I saw this on the Library of Congress fb too. I have been worried since the election what will he do with our original founding documents?

We recently made a coding mistake on our Constitution Annotated website while attempting to add new, expert legal analysis of some of the latest Supreme Court decisions to the page.

This human error temporarily deleted parts of the Constitution from the website, which we know greatly upset many of you.
Needless to say, a mistake on a website does not change the law. But in the interest of broadening access to a version of the U.S. Constitution that is not subject to coding errors, we will be passing out free, physical copies of the Constitution at this week's Live! at the Library (while supplies last), and at the National Book Festival next month.

  4. The number of people who have no knowledge of what is in the Constitution, like separation of powers, is unreal.

An error was made at an unfortunate time. It was owned and corrected. You honestly think the current executive branch would do that?

  5. Being transparent by giving us the diffs that show the "coding errors" would go a long way to restoring some good will. If you don't do this, we will assume this was no error. Plain and simple.
