  1. Begin with a standing day? Tuesdays:

    • Shop STRICTLY local. Take it seriously.

Enough people participate? You’ve created a marketplace. MORE cottage vendors. More variety.

NOW you’re self-sustained. Build on that. And birth a whole new micro-economic system.

    And Fuck The Man.

    That is the way.

  2. I see comments here about inconvenience! Well, losing your freedoms won't be an inconvenience? You organize for a 2 day strike, and do what the cops do and call in sick! It's called the blue flu! Most companies allow 2 sick days without an excuse! If you could get all dems on board,it might work!

  3. As has been said, Saturday is doable, AND it would be more impactful, more frequently, on a weekday. Overall it would be great if ppl just stopped buying from corps & support small biz - no more Amazon, Target, Walmart, Starbucks, fast food chains. 1 day no shop isn’t doing it

  4. I can buy nothing easily (most days actually since I am paycheck to paycheck) and not use the internet. I am working hard to NOT contribute to capitalism except on the smallest local level as I can. Work stoppage is whole different level of organizing.

  5. Naw, dawg, this is not how a general strike should go. It will fail to move the needle and Trump regime will say "Look, they failed. We won" Much more planning and organizing for an effective GS. This is not it. I am all for GS but a poorly run plan can backfire.

  6. Thanks for this. The long haul for me as part of resistance going forward is to only buy necessities. And boycott where necessary.

  7. Yes, yes. I quit this country. Let them shove it. $7. 89 for a bag of Doritos, ha, no. Let's get healthy so we don't need their dumb medical either. I'm in.

  8. STOP PAYING FOR TERRORIST ORGANIZED CRIME. Your taxdollars are paying for everything that is happening to the country.

I don’t think one Saturday will do anything except encourage them to speed up project 25. People will have to commit to an ongoing strike.

  9. Um. Aug 9 - that's a Saturday. Most folks work M-F. Most businesses operate M-F. Malls and restaurants do lots of biz on Saturdays. I'm confused.

  10. I am a single woman farmer. I need people to come to the farmers market on Saturday and buy my products or I don't stay in business. I can see striking against big corporations, but small business owners who often are resisters, need to survive!

  11. So what if I work for the state gov, in a blue state, that has pushed back against orange leader and ice? Ngl, I do, and I'm proud of my state.

  13. I'll be participating. I've made plans to take my family out for a picnic with food from our pantry and go to the free splash pad. Even bought myself a new book on a garage sale for the day, and will fill my gas tank two days prior. :)

  14. Great idea. Just a couple of suggestions.

    1. You need more than three days to organize something of this magnitude.
    2. From a labor stoppage perspective, I think it will have a greater effect on a weekday.

  16. Thank you, thank you for your relentlessly highlighting the travesty of the Trumpian nightmare that could very well destroy this country and SO MUCH MORE‼️

  17. I'll bet most people won't make it a few hours let alone an entire 24 hours. That mindset is what business is counting on...
