A wise colleague who got 3 chapters in & then terminated the process told me to ask myself if I would regret it if I didn’t finish. She said she had no regrets. I thought about it & concluded that I WOULD regret not finishing. I don’t use my degree in my daily work, but will never regret finishing.

Good post! I felt that way during the Masters program I was in and wanted to quit 3/4 of the way through. My husband encouraged me to finish and I did. Then he asked when I was going to start my doctorate and I said pass. Think I’m good. Great decision on deciding to complete your doctorate!

In between my MS and PhD I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. After surgery and 6 months chemo, I said no. - one PhD in the family is enough. 32 yrs in remission this past June. 1 of the reasons we took early retirement, while we could still go and do things.
