FWIW, the fix was in for CPB and NPR when the right freaked out over Tele Tubbies. Once the outrage machine was ginned up, the Bush admin put right wingers on the board of CPB. So, the kowtowing was likely forced. They have to pivot away from soft peddling criticism of GOP illegality and bad faith
